KidZone

The KidZone Program provides affordable, after-school care for elementary school children in a supervised environment. KidZone runs on weekdays from school dismissal time through 6:00pm, with partial, half and full days. Program costs range from $85 to $185 weekly, depending on the length of the day. Discounts are available on a sliding scale basis. Daily pick-up from school is available.

A typical KidZone afternoon begins with physical play to help the children unwind from the school day as they arrive at North Light from various schools (publicprivate, parochial). Once , all of the children are at North Light, a brief ‘circle time" makes it possible to take attendance and discuss the day’s activities. Afterwards, the children have a nutritional snack which they take turns helping to serve.

Following snack time, the children are divided by age groups for a period of homework assistance, which can last up to one hour. Once the homework assistance is completed, children participate in a variety of activities including sports, arts & crafts, reading, drama, board games, computers, etc. In addition to this daily routine, special activities such as workshops, holiday observances, field trips, community service activities, parent/child dinners, etc. take place throughout the year.
